​SCHOLARSHIP FOR OIC LEAST DEVELOPED COUNTRIES UNDER THE PROJECT “ACADEMIC AND RESEARCH LINKAGES UNDER BILATERAL AGREEMENT”

About HEC Pakistan

The government of Pakistan has offered scholarships to students of the least developed countries of OIC that include Afghanistan, Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Comoros, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Gambia The, Togo, and Uganda.​

Admission Process:

Following procedure will be followed:

1. Higher Education Commission (HEC) would provide the eligibility criteria for admission in Bachelors, MS/M.Phil. and Ph.D. degree programs in selected Pakistani universities.
2. The students would apply through nominating agencies, i.e. OIC General Secretariat/respective Governments via Embassies of least developed countries of OIC by mentioning the name of Pakistani universities (1^st, 2^nd & 3^rd choice) and disciplines/choices where she/he wishes to get admission.
3. OIC General Secretariat/respective Governments via Embassies of least developed countries of OIC would make the nomination/selection of students as per the eligibility criteria in coordination with HEC/respective University after meeting their admission benchmarks (percentage). The data of nominated students will be shared with HEC. The nomination would be on a competitive basis on the highest academic merit.
4. The applicant would be required to complete all required documents for the university admission process.
5. HEC would facilitate and coordinate with the student through OIC General Secretariat/respective Governments via Embassies for their enrollment in respective Pakistani universities in relevant discipline. HEC would share the list of nominated students with selected Pakistani universities for securing acceptance/provisional admission as per their choices. The received nominations would be forwarded to respective universities keeping in view the preference pledged by applicants, for placement as per eligibility & merit criteria of the university.
6. After completion of all documentation, HEC would issue NOC for academic purposes only in favor of finally selected students to study in Pakistan.
7. HEC PMU staff will coordinate with respective embassies, ministries including the Foreign Office, Ministry of Interior, and concerned Agencies for completing all formalities.
8. Finally selected students would be enrolled in public sector universities by considering their admission choices (1^st, 2^nd & 3^rd) at Pakistani universities.

​Mode of Applying:

OIC General Secretariat/respective Governments via Embassies will coordinate with HEC and advertise the scholarship amongst the least developed countries of OIC. The students of these countries will compete for the award of scholarship, as per the eligibility criteria in coordination with HEC.

Eligibility:

• No dual national is allowed, only students from least developed countries of OIC are eligible to apply for Pakistan scholarships.
• The applicants must fulfill the eligibility criteria of Pakistani Universities. As a mode of teaching would be English, therefore, applicants should have passed IELTS or TOFEL.
• Moreover, candidates applying for Bachelor’s degree must have completed 12 years of school education equated by Inter Board Committee Chairmen (IBCC), Islamabad, Pakistan. Similarly, candidates applying for a Master’s degree must have completed a Bachelor’s degree which has the equivalency of 16 years viz. 04 years Bachelor’s degree program graduated from State-recognized University and equated by Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. Candidates applying for Ph.D. must have completed a Master’s degree which has the equivalency of 18 years viz. 02 years Master’s degree program & 04 years Bachelor degree program, from State, recognized Universities and both degrees equated from HEC Pakistan.
• ​The major disciplines or subjects applied especially for Master’s and Ph.D. degrees at Pakistani universities should be in the relevant major disciplines already studied by the applicant during their last degree program.

Financial Support on Pakistan Scholarships:

i.  Scholarships for Bachelors (Engineering & General Disciplines) Students (04 Years)

Documents Required for Pakistan Scholarships:

​Four sets of the following documents will be required after nomination of applicants by sending/nominating country:

• HEC “Foreign Student Information Sheet” to be filled in & signed by the applicant
• All academic Certificates / Marks Sheets of School, College, and University.
• Recent Photographs (Eight)
• Copy of Passport.
• Nomination letter by home country carrying photograph.
• NOC of concerned Embassy for studying in Pakistan

Nominated applicants would be enrolled in public sector universities preferably in the following with exception of medical universities which will be decided by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC):

Other Information

Duration of Degree:

• 48 months Bachelor’s degree program
• 60 months for Medical degree program
• 24 months MS/MPhil degree program
• 48 months Doctoral (PhD) program

Dates of Start of Degree Program:

• ​Fall session generally starts from August-September and Spring session starts from January-February. 

 Equivalence Criteria for Degrees:

Equivalent to Bachelors, MS/MPhil, and Ph.D. programs, in the light of Pakistan Qualification Framework.

Other Relevant Information

VISA PROCEDURE:

After endorsement / NOC issued by HEC, the student would apply for a visa through Pakistan Embassy in the respective country. She or he would submit the following documents:

1. Student Visa Form
2. Photocopy of passport
3. Photographs (08)
4. All relevant transcripts, diplomas, and other educational documents
5. Acceptance / Admission letter from the Pakistani university applied to
6. NOC issued by HEC before visa.
7. NOC issued by respective Embassy at Islamabad to study in Pakistan
8.  Any other document if required by HEC / Pakistan Embassy in the respective country.

• HEC would notify the enrollment / NOC to concerned university and Ministry for visa endorsement
• The visa would be processed through Pakistan Embassy at respective country.
• The visa, once issued, must be renewed annually, adhering to the country’s required/valid security clearance process.

Field of Studies:

For OIC least developed countries, the fields specified include Medical, Engineering, Agriculture and Physical/Natural Sciences.  

 Age:

Age between 20 years to 35 years for MS / M.Phil. and 40 years maximum for PhD on or before the application deadline.

 Accommodation:

Accommodation at university hostels will be provided by Pakistani universities

 Travel Arrangement to Pakistan and return:

HEC will reimburse return economy airfare to students of least developed countries of OIC.
